Biology MSc Program
In the 21st century, biology plays a key role in understanding and addressing the major challenges facing humanity—such as climate change, sustainable food production, and biotechnological innovation. The Biology MSc program at ELTE provides students with the opportunity to acquire comprehensive and up-to-date biological knowledge while developing both theoretical and practical skills relevant to modern research and industrial applications.
Throughout the program, students gain the competencies and expertise necessary for laboratory, field, research and development, and managerial positions, as well as for the safe and environmentally conscious operation and development of biological systems.
Specializations
Starting from the 2026–2027 academic year, Biology MSc students will earn their final exit specialization based on the courses they complete during their studies. This flexible structure allows each student to shape their professional profile according to their own interests and strengths, enabling them to deepen their knowledge in various areas of biology. Based on their completed coursework, students may obtain one of the following six specializations:
- Bioinformatics
- Neuroscience and Human Biology
- Molecular Genetics, Cell and Developmental Biology
- Molecular, Immune and Microbial Biology
- Plant Biology and Mycology
- Ecology, Evolutionary and Conservation Biology
This structure allows students to pursue their own academic path while gaining in-depth knowledge in the diverse and exciting fields of biology.
