M.Sc. Thesis Requirements for Biology Students

At the conclusion of their master's studies, M.Sc. students in Biology are required to write a master’s thesis, which is a prerequisite for being allowed to take the final examination. The preparation of the thesis is supported by one or more supervisors.

A supervisor may be a university lecturer or researcher, or an external expert not affiliated with the university.

AI Declaration

According to the decision of the Council of the Institute of Biology, the use of artificial intelligence-based software for editorial purposes is permitted in theses and dissertations submitted during the spring semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. However, the use of AI tools to generate new content is not allowed (an exception is made for theses in which the use of AI tools is an integral part of the research). In line with the Council’s decision, the student must include the following declaration—completed in the language of the thesis—as part of the submitted work.

The thesis is completed within the framework of the courses Thesis I and Thesis II.

Deadline for Uploading the Master’s Thesis to Neptun (including the supervisor’s formal approval!):
Monday, May 5, 2025, 4:00 PM —the first working day of the penultimate week of the academic term.
