Nils Christian Stenseth: Ecological and Evolutionary dynamics in marine systems under anthropogenic influence
Nils Christian Stenseth is Professor of Ecology and Evolution at the University of Oslo, who has made fundamental contributions to the study of ecological and evolutionary processes, combining theoretical and empirical approaches. He was president of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, and is a member of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters, the French Academy of Sciences and the Academia Europaea.

The presentation will focus on the population biology (ecology and evolution) of the North Atlantic cod, highlighting the effect of climate variation and harvesting – work being carried out as joint effort between several disciplines (coming from many countries).  The talk will end with some reflections on how such scientific knowledge should be communicated to decision makers and politicians.

The presentation is open to the public. In compliance with the COVID-19 safety regulations of the university, all visitors are required to wear face masks on the premises of the university, and the attendance of public events is only allowed with a COVID vaccination certificate
