Six new assistant professor/lecturer positions
The Institute of Biology at ELTE Eötvös Loránd University aims to strengthen its research effort for maintaining its leading position in Hungary. We open 6 new assistant professor/lecturer positions for young, enthusiastic, strategically thinking postdoctoral biologists.The successful candidate will join our community of university teachers who are keen to educate the next generation of biologists in Hungary.

The applicant must have a PhD and certify that he/she has been employed for at least three years after the PhD at an educational or research institution.

Positions are intended for tenure track but the successful candidate will have to adhere to the rules of expected performance and advancement prescribed by the Institute.

Successful candidates are expected to lead independently a specific line of research, recruiting PhD students, take part in teaching, and manage their own research group by obtaining research grants in support for their work in the near future.

It is advantageous if the candidate

  • has prior experience in any of the following: bioinformatics, biostatistics, genetics, immunology, molecular biology, molecular plant biology
  • has gained working experience in non-Hungarian universities or research institutions
  • has advanced written and oral communication skills in English
  • can present evidence for previous grant applications, and has international collaborative activities
  • has a friendly, collaborative mind-set, and motivation to work in an international, interdisciplinary environment
  • is a team player and has a proactive “getting things done” mentality Shortlisted candidates will be asked to make a 15-minute presentation (via internet) on a specific topic.

Candidates should send their CV (including a link to publications, and to GoogleScholar and ResearchGate profiles), and a motivation letter, why they would like to initiate or continue research in one of the above fields. In addition, the application letter should contain

  • assistant professor work plan (maximum 2 pages),
  • copies of diplomas, certificates,
  • proof of teaching experience,
  • any documents that the applicant considers may be taken into account in the evaluation of the application,
  • in the case of a successful application, if you have been admitted, a certificate of good conduct (not older than 3 months; not required in the case of an internal applicant),
